About
Tall Club of San Diego (TCSD) is the newest affiliate club in good standing with Tall Clubs International (TCI)! Our club members worked tirelessly the two years preceding the 2017 National Convention in order to meet established timeline criteria that allowed us to apply for affiliate club status. We sent our club's President to represent us at the National Delegates meeting which occurred in Portland, Oregon. Our delegate received the wonderful news that TCSD was in fact approved by unanimous vote. Three tall cheers and a round of applause welcomed us into the TCI family!
Tall Club of San Diego upholds the same membership requirements as those set forth by TCI (www.tall.org). Therefore, we are a social club for adults who are at least 21 years of age, and are either a male of at least 6'2" and/or a female of at least 5'10 in height measured without shoes, and who reside within a 100-mile radius of the City of San Diego. Anyone who wishes to apply to become a voting member must attend at least one social function, complete a Membership application, be measured by a Member of the Board (MOB), and pay their non-refundable annual dues.
We promote tall awareness through face-to-face interactions on a social, educational, and supportive level. We coordinate local and Regional events that are fun, stimulating, and guaranteed to generate lasting memories for years to come. Our TCI National Convention occurs annually in alternating major cities across the United States. When you plan on attending one of our events please consider bringing your friends and family with you. You are guaranteed to have a good laugh, a sore neck from looking up so much, and lasting friendships for many many years. You will begin planning your personal vacations around our events.
We consider ourselves a guiding light to those who may not perceive their height as a natural gift. Annually, we sponsor up to two tall teens seeking to further their education through college entrance. Tall teens must meet TCI age (younger than 21) and height requirement, and be willing to meet with a MOB in order to validate that the aforementioned criteria are met. Any interested tall teen may then apply for a one time scholarship by visiting the Tall Club Foundation's website (www.tallclubfoundation.org/scholarship-program.html.)
Furthermore, we support the Marfan Foundation (www.marfan.org) which helps to further research on Marfan Syndrome, and other related Connective Tissue Disorder (CTD) which may result in taller than average stature. Marfan Syndrome is known to affect persons in different ways. It is not curable, and a person may develop chronic long term health problems that can impact a person's quality of life. Please be aware that our Club's President, Joyce Maddox, was appointed as the new TCI Marfan Liaison earlier this year 2018. Please read all about it by clicking on the following link www.tall.org/marfan-foundation.html. Be sure to check back frequently as more information will be shared in the future.
